Elegant water art for any space.

The easiest way to start loving water features.

Fountainscapes fit more budgets, more spaces, and more timelines than any other feature we build. Many of our pond clients started with a fountainscape. It's not a consolation prize, it's the beginning of something.

A fountainscape is a contained water feature built around a buried basin, no open pond, no standing water at the surface. Water recirculates up through one or more decorative elements, stacked slate urns, spheres, spillway bowls, bubbling boulders, basalt columns, or custom arrangements, and returns to the reservoir below. You get the movement and sound of water as a genuine landscape element, without the open water or ongoing biological management of a full pond.

It's the most accessible entry point into professional water features. And some of the most striking ones we've built are in spaces homeowners assumed were too small for anything meaningful.

What Can a Fountainscape Look Like?

The range is wider than most people expect. Single boulders, stacked slate urns, Aquascape spheres, spillway bowls, basalt columns, multi-element arrangements. The style can be naturalistic and rugged or clean and architectural depending on your home and surrounding landscape. We work with materials that hold up beautifully in New England's freeze-thaw cycles and look better with every season.

    Why Homeowners Choose a Fountainscape

Fountainscapes come up most often in three situations: families with young children who want the experience of water without open water safety concerns; homeowners with smaller spaces, a patio corner, an entry garden bed, a courtyard, who assumed they didn't have room for a water feature; and commercial clients looking for a refined, low-maintenance water element for an entryway, lobby garden, or shared outdoor space.

In every case, the appeal is the same: genuine water movement and sound, with the lowest maintenance profile of any feature we build.

Is a Fountainscape Lower Maintenance Than a Pond?

Significantly. There's no open water to manage, no fish to care for, and a much simpler algae cycle to navigate. Maintenance is mostly seasonal, winterizing in fall, starting back up in spring, and occasional debris clearing from the basin. Most owners spend well under 30 minutes per month during the active season.

    Safe for Kids and Pets

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons families choose a fountainscape over a pond. There's no meaningful body of standing water. It's a safe, beautiful option for households with young children, curious dogs, or anyone with reasonable concerns about open water.

    Sound and Scale

Sound level is something we dial in through design, it's not accidental. The height of the drop, the volume of water, and how it lands on stone all influence the result. Most homeowners find it genuinely calming, not intrusive. We'll talk about how you plan to use your outdoor space so we can hit the right note for how you actually live in it.

    Fountainscape Investment, Massachusetts Pricing

A professionally installed fountainscape typically ranges from around $3,500 for a single-element feature up to $12,000 or more for a multi-element custom arrangement. Larger or more elaborate builds can run higher. We'll give you an honest range during our initial call and an exact quote at the site visit.

Many of our pond clients started here.

A fountainscape is a great first step. When the kids are older, the budget expands, or the yard changes, many clients come back for a pondless waterfall or a full pond. We plan for that from day one if you want us to.
